John 3:16 is one of the best-known Bible verses. Those who have even a casual acquaintance with the Scriptures are typically familiar with this verse. Many have described John 3:16 as a summary of the gospel.
JOHN 3:16 (NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16 speaks of God's motivation: love. The good news is that God's love is not to a few or one specific people group, but His gift of love is for the whole world. God expresses His love by giving His most precious gift, His unique Son. Today, we have the opportunity to receive God's gift of love. It's not a gift that is earned but one that is received. In receiving His gift, Jesus, we have life. Eternal life is a new life in Christ Jesus. Believing in Jesus, our new life in Him begins in this present time and is a life that the believer possesses forever.
In these few words, known by so many, the good news of Jesus is explained, and God's love is made known, His love for the world.
